Birdies for Charities
Community spirit is the driving force on the links at The Principal Charity Classic®, and Central Iowans have a great opportunity to benefit area children’s programs by raising additional funds through Birdies for Charity. Participating organizations will receive 100% of EVERY DONATION collected on their behalf.
Birdies for Charity is a fundraising program designed to give participants an opportunity to generate contributions based on the number of “birdies” made by PGA Champions Tour players during The Principal Charity Classic® in 2010. With 787 birdies made in last year’s tournament, Birdies for Charity generated $23,000 for local organizations serving youth populations.
Mentor Iowa is looking at finding individuals who will help by making a pledge or being a solicitor for us to find pledges. The minimum per-birdie pledge is $.02. The estimated number of birdies for the 2008 tournament is 800, so a two-cent commitment would result in a total pledge of $16.00. The minimum flat-amount donation is $10.00.
